- DESCRIPTION OF THE RACE:
 The Desert Orthopedic Great Nordeen held ON JANUARY 12 is a celebration of Central Oregon ski history! Just once a year a trail is groomed through 36km of lava flows, hemlock, fir, and pine forest stands in remembrance of Emil Nordeen, the decorated Central Oregon ski pioneer. The manageable terrain and distance makes this point-to-point freestyle race a great event for first time racers and recreational skiers. Beginning at Mt. Bachelor, skiers will tour on the generally downhill course from the Sunrise Lodge to the Wanoga Snow Park. Busses will shuttle competitors back to the Sunrise Lodge.

Afterwards, make sure to attend Saturday night’s post-race festivities. The banquet and awards ceremony will feature food and entertainment, as well as $700 in cash prizes and great raffle prizes. Prizes will be awarded to the top finishers in both the overall classification and in the age group divisions. Make sure to purchase banquet tickets with your registration or at the door. Family and friends are very welcome to attend.

- Bib and Race Packet pick-up at Bend Bike‘N’Sport from 2-6pm, Friday, Jan 11th, 2008.
- The race packet includes; Course map & profile, T-shirt, Bus Schedule, Information on Awards Ceremony, Bib & Wave Classification, Sponsor Items and Coupons.
- SEEDING REQUESTS FOR 1st WAVE:
Seeding requests must be received by 5:00 pm 1/10/07. The top 125 finishers from 2007 Great Nordeen will be put into 1st wave. Last year’s results are available here. For any skiers not in last year’s top 125 interested in being in the first wave please summit: 3 different race results including name of race, distance, time, age placing and overall placing.

- Dec 28, 2007 – Jan 11, 2008 $65 NOTE: There will be no day of race registration. The last day for online registration is Thursday, 1/10/2008. Registration can be done at Bib Pickup.
- POST RACE BANQUET (per person)
- Banquet held at The Bend Armory, 875 SW Simpson Ave. at 6:00 p.m.
- Racer Banquet Pass: $5.00
- Guest Banquet Pass: $15.00 Includes banquet dinner and awards presentation. Passes can also be bought at the door.
