The Desert Orthopedic Great Nordeen held April 4th is a celebration of Central Oregon ski history! Just once a year a trail is groomed through 30km of lava flows, hemlock, fir, and pine forest stands in remembrance of Emil Nordeen, the decorated Central Oregon ski pioneer. The manageable terrain and distance makes this point-to-point freestyle race a great event for first time racers and recreational skiers. Beginning at Mt. Bachelor, skiers will tour on the generally downhill course from the Sunrise Lodge to the Wanoga Snow Park. Busses will shuttle competitors back to the Sunrise Lodge.  New this year is a category for a 15km Skijoring, and a 15km ski with your dog class.     Maps:  Trail Map          

Afterwards, make sure to attend Saturday night’s post-race festivities. The banquet and awards ceremony will feature food and entertainment, and great raffle prizes. Make sure to purchase banquet tickets with your registration or at the door. Family and friends are very welcome to attend.

• Bib and Race Packet pick-up at Bend Bike‘N’Sport from noon-6pm, Friday, April 3, 2009. 
• The race packet includes; Course map & profile, Racer Tote Bag, Bus Schedule, Information on Awards Ceremony, Bib & Wave Classification, Sponsor Items and Coupons.

Seeding requests must be received by 5:00 pm April 3. The top 125 finishers from 2008 Great Nordeen will be put into 1st wave. Last year’s results are available here. For any skiers not in last year’s top 125 interested in being in the first wave please submit: 3 different race results including name of race, distance, time, age placing and overall placing.
