The MBSEF Thrilla Cyclocross Series is held every September at the Athletic Club of Bend.  Four Thursday evenings in Sept.  Bart Bowen who is a renowned racer and course builder is in charge of making the courses each week.

Cyclocross is a form of bicycle racing. Races typically take place in the autumn and winter, and consist of many laps of a short course featuring pavement, wooded trails, grass, steep hills and obstacles requiring the rider to quickly dismount, carry the bike while navigating the obstruction and remount.

The Thrilla course is perfect for people that have always wanted to race cyclocross but were intimidated.  It’s also great for the seasoned racer as well.  The race prides itself on being fun, friendly and welcoming to all ability levels.

There are two races each night based on the category racers sign up for.  The 5:15 p.m. race is 30 minutes long and the 6:00 p.m. race is 45 minutes long.  Riders do as many laps as they can.

Typically, in the 30 minute race, racers complete 3 laps.  In the 45 minute race, racers usually complete 5. This is a sanctioned OBRA event and results are posted the next day.
